Dear parents and students,

I would like to welcome you back to school. I am looking forward to working with everyone this upcoming school year. I hope you had a wonderful summer vacation.

We have an exciting and busy year planned. We will be traveling on learning trips, working with our technology to experience the world in far away places, community nights, musical productions, the list goes on and on. Along with all of the fun activities, we will also be working hard in our classrooms building our academic skills.

There are a few items that I would like to touch base with you on. Your child will be given a planner on the first day of school. These planners are a very important part of our classroom. The planner allows you as a parent, to see what is going on in the classroom and on campus.

The planner contains information regarding school policies, schedules, etc. The student will record daily activities that we have done in the classroom. I will also make a notation in the planner regarding behavior, (both good and bad) homework, etc.

Your child will be bringing this home to you to go over and sign. Please look for the planner daily. The planner allows you and your child to discuss activities, go over classwork and other items. After you have reviewed the planner, please sign and your child return it the following day. Planners are done daily. Please feel free to write any comments or concerns you may have in the planner. I will respond in the planner as well.

I have an open door policy. You are welcome to come by anytime you would like. Your child would love you to be a part of our classroom or campus. Simply stop by the office and sign in and come join us. We are always in need of parent volunteer’s as well.

Homework at this point is going to be optional. Students may have unfinished work to complete or they may need to study for a test the following day. Homework information will be placed in the planner.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to write a note in the planner or call me/text on my cell phone (343-3919) before or after class. You may also call the school phone number as well and leave a message and I will return the call as soon as possible.
